The Rose Bowl: The Original 'Bowl Game'

Located in Pasadena, California, Rose Bowl Stadium has been host to some of the most dramatic and emotional moments in college sports. The stadium has been hosting the Rose Bowl Game, the oldest of the bowl games, since January 1st 1923. Every year (except for 1942 due to WWII travel restrictions), the Rose Bowl has enjoyed the highest attendance of any bowl game in all of college football. The legacy of the championship ring can be traced back to the 1927 New York Yankee, who gave a ring to each member of the team after their sweeping World Series victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Since then, Championship winners not only in the MLB, but the NCAA, NFL, NBA, NHL, and even NASCAR have been given a ring to wear in celebration of their championship victory. Notre Dame vs USC Rivalry Established in 1926

Dating back to 1926, the USC/Notre Dame rivalry is easily one of, if not the, premier rivalry in college football. Dating back to 1926, these two legendary football programs battle it out for the Jeweled Shillelagh, and, most years, for the right to play in a championship game. A popular theory about the origins of the rivalry suggest that the USC athletic director Gwynn Wilson, looking for a national rival, went to visit Nebraska as they were playing Notre Dame to propose a game with the team each year. The USC Football Championship Legacy

USC Football is recognized as one of the best in the country, boasting 11 National Championship titles. The program has had, as of 2016, 497 players drafted into the NFL, the most by any school in the history of the draft. To add to the programs impressive legacy, USC Football has had 7 Heisman Trophy winners, including Carson Palmer, Reggie Bush, and O.J. Simpson.
